"My experience comes from my service to this community. My successful efforts to ensure the safety of our children - and this community. That is the experience I have and that is the experience we should expect from all of our leaders."
SAFETY FIRST.

SAFE SCHOOLS
Valpo Community Schools are the best. Let's keep it that way. Top schools must continually move forward to stay ahead of the curve in addressing educational and social issues affecting our students today. For the past six years, I have worked directly with schools throughout the Region to ensure best practices. I have worked directly with higher-risk youth to understand better how their learning and home environments shape their education. Our students deserve to learn in a safe and inclusive environment free from judgment and fear.
SAFE STREETS
Our neighborhoods deserve the same attention our developers get. Growth can be exciting, but the focus must be on ensuring our current infrastructure can support it. Valpo's most committed residents deserve streets they can drive on, as well as, attainable and diverse housing options. The incentives provided to developers to encourage growth must also be provided to residents to assist in their ability to stay in the city they love.

STREETS FIRST.

SMART SPENDING
Smart spending only happens with smart planning. As an estate and elder law attorney, my experience planning for the worst and knowing when to reevaluate goals will serve a city on the verge of major growth. Watching our trash and recycling services get cut in half while our bills doubled isn't the planning that Valpo deserves. We deserve representatives who can anticipate increased needs and institute plans for the same.
VALPO FIRST.

When deciding where to plant her roots, Emilie Hunt knew
Valparaiso was home. The community embodies the values most
important to her and her family: schools, safety, and stability.
Over the last decade, Emilie has become increasingly
involved in her community - specifically with school
safety and the welfare of our children. She has worked
directly with local elementary schools to advocate for best
practices in lockdown procedures and to coordinate our
emergency response procedures. She has coordinated
these efforts with local law enforcement, giving
presentations throughout northwest Indiana focused on
safe firearm storage and keeping guns out of our children’s
hands. She has repeatedly appeared before our City Council
and School Board requesting reasonable, nonpartisan actions
that would keep our schools and our officers safe - and she will
not stop. She believes in transparency and common sense
policies that will benefit our community and our children.

Emilie believes our growing city should accommodate its residents
and not price them out. She supports smart spending through stable taxes,
informed decisions, and a council that puts the welfare of its residents
first. Emilie is a member of the Boys and Girls Club PALS Board,
working directly with children throughout the Region. She is the
President of the Center Township Trustee Foundation Board, working
on initiatives that directly benefit the most underserved members of
our community. She is an elder law and estate planning attorney with
one of the top firms in the Region and has served multiple times as
Judge Judge Pro Tempore for the Lake County Superior Court.
As your council member, Emilie will continue to put our community first
and ensure the best future for our great city.
